January 2005 ArchivesJanuary 20, 2005I have officialy joined Joe Cordiano's (aka JoeDirt) June 2005 RBI Tourney in Columbus, OH. Signup and meet RBI'ers from across this great country. Confirmed entries from California, Arizona, Illinois, Ohio and more. Joe is hoping for enough guys to run a 32-man bracket, so hop to it! Another drive has started on the forums to get more entries into the RBI Baseball Hall of Shame. So far it's a success with the following people added this week - Mike Aldrete, Darrell Evans, Bobby Grich, Dale Murphy, Cal Ripken, Rafael Santana, Kevin Seitzer. 77 players down, 83 to go... As the offseason is in full swing, many RBI'ers are moving around in coaching positions. The latest members of the Where Are they Now? page are Tom Brookens, Jim Rice, Jack Morris, Rafel Santana and Howard Johnson. It's obviously been a big week for Santana on dee-nee.com - caught with his penis out AND got a minor league gig. The August 2004 updates are finally off the main page and added to the archives. A testament to my lack of updates... Discuss this update on the Dee-Nee Forums
January 13, 2005The biggest news since the last update is the software upgrade to the Dee-Nee Forums. We cast away the discontinued yabbSE software and moved to the new Simple Machines codebase. It really doesn't look a whole lot different but it's chock full of neat new features. Big thanks to nightwulf and Lips for helping me getting it up and running. Thanks also go out to JoeDirt and BeeJay for helping out with the bugfixing. Well done boys... Finally got off my ass and added the Hall of Shame entries fightonusc posted for me a couple months ago. The following players got updates - Don Sutton, Eric Davis, Mike Scott, Gary Carter, Bret Saberhagen, Joel Youngblood, Todd Worrell, Mike Witt. Hopefully we'll get an entry for every RBI'er in there soon... One addition to the FAQ - Are there any switch hitters in RBI?. Thanks to Nails of the forums for doing all the homework on this one... The last of the fknmclane reviews are up, at least for this session - Kid Dynamite - Shorter, Faster, Louder. Discuss this update on the Dee-Nee Forums
January 10, 2005I added a new user-created version of RBI to the ROMs Page - Ryno's Greats of the 1980s. That gives us a best of 70s, 80s and 90s ROM. Who's up for doing the 1960s? I also added all the Famicom versions of Family Stadium to the ROMs page. They really did milk the Family Stadium franchise in Japan, I wish Tengen would have followed their lead on how to make sequels. Even the Family Stadium '94 plays just like the original, just more features and teams. All these ROMs play just fine on FCE Ultra, and thanks to nightwulf for (unknowingly) letting me copy his ROMs directoy and html for the page... New music review - The Misfits - Walk Among Us. And believe it or now, a new book review! Graham Greene - Journey Without Maps Discuss this update on the Dee-Nee Forums
January 7, 2005A long overdue update... The big news of course is Hall of Fame induction of RBI'ers Ryne Sandberg and Wade Boggs. Congrats boys! Sandberg was long overdue, thanks to MLBWA or whoever for making him wait for no reason. They are the tenth and eleventh RBI Baseball members in the HOF and have their spot on the where are they now page. Also added to the WATN are a few coaches and player movements, those affected are Roger McDowell, Andres Galarraga, Benito Santiago and George Hendrick. Check the page for each update... Joe Cordiano (aka JoeDirt on the forums) is organizing a national, 16-man open tournament in Columbus, Ohio in late June 2005. Check out his tournament page for details and info on signing up. I will be there along with a bunch of RBI players from all around the country. Come by and play against the best RBI has to offer! Ultimate7 of the forums created a great ROM - RBI Arcade II. Not sure if it's full name is RBI Arcade II, The Electric Boogaloo or RBI Arcade II, Through the Portal of Time - you decide. Basically he took the 10 best all-time teams not in RBI Arcade and made a ROM out of it. Good idea and good ROM, download it now, or find it later on the ROMs page. One new music review - The Ramones - Rocket to Russia. Thanks for fknmclane for the CD, I have a few more reviews from his batch that'll come shortly... Discuss this update on the Dee-Nee Forums
