May 2004 ArchivesMay 31, 2004Our final RBI qualifier was this weekend, with Potsie and Sperling joining Lipitz and myself in next weekend's yearly RBI Tournament. Our RBI Tourneys are a big deal around these parts, and I'm very happy to see the original Dee-Nee lineup make it to the final round. Jason (aka Vitb6 on the forums played great, but couldn't win out the close games. All the scores are posted in this forum thread and we made sure to get plenty of video footage. There's some good stuff in there, check back for some video updates.... In website updates, I only added Reggie Jackson's retired #9 for the Athletics to the RBI Miscellany Page. But be sure to checkout resident RBI techincal guru nightwulf's updated RBI editor with tons of new features. This is without a doubt the best way to make your own RBI ROMs, so get on it... Two more music reviews - Madness and Gang of Four. Discuss this update on the Dee-Nee Forums
May 24, 2004Lips and I just came back from Indianapolis, fresh from the US Olympic Team Trials for wrestling. Congrats to the entire team for some incredible wrestling, especially Joe Williams of Harvey IL and Mt. Carmel High School. I've been following Joe's career since Adam Mankowski told me of his accomplishments our senior year of high school. That was around 1994/1995 and it's good to see Joe finally make it to the world's biggest stage. Bring home the gold Joe, Twisters for life... Anyway, Lips and I brought the NES to Indy, thus adding another city we've played RBI in. The RBI Miscellany Page has been updated. Didn't do too much RBI in since the hangover brought on by the first night of games kept me away from the beer. I'm too old for that binge drinking shit, I prefer my brews at a steady pace throughout the night.... On the road to Indy, I completely revised the San Francisco Team Page with current lineup recommendations and suggestions. That was a long time coming, the old review sucked ass. RBI'ers take special note on how to handle the eight spot. I want everyone to memorize that... Also added a new glitch to the RBI Glossary - The Free Run Glitch. Neat way to get a cheap run... Two more music reviews - 999 and Rivethead, the latter having nothing to do with Industrial Music. Check them out...

May 13, 2004Happy belated RBI Birthday to Kevin Bass, who turned 45 yesterday. We all wish he could live up to his lofty numbers in RBI Baseball, but congrats nonetheless... Added what is hopefully the first of many questions to the RBI Baseball FAQ - What players have the best fielding arm? Hopefully this will debunk some people's insistance on fielders having individual throwing stats... Two more records added to the Reviews Page - The Psychadelic Furs and Strike Under. Almost halfway with the current stack, never thought I'd get that far... Discuss this update on the Dee-Nee Forums
May 9, 2004First off, happy 44th birthday to RBI Legend Tony Gwynn! If you frequent the RBI Baseball Birthdays page, you'd have known this already. Though not a great RBI'er, he had the highest average in the game. So he basically he had the best useless stat in the game. Congrats again Tony... The big update for today was my complete overhaul of the Minnesota team page. Potsie's old synopsis was horribly dated and incomplete. Though I did keep a link to Potsie's old synopsis in case you wanted a second opinon. Adjust your strategies accordingly... Three more records reviews as well - Tuff Darts, AC/DC and None of the Above. I'm working my way through my recent record stack, looks like I might actually get them all done... May 6, 2004I made the one week quota, woo-hoo! The first thing you'll notice is the new title and little description above. This was done for two reasons - to help newcomers to the site know what we're all about and to help out with search engines. Having an opening graphic with "RBI Baseball" instead of using text has hurt me on google & yahoo. Hopefully this change will get me into the top 2 or 3 hits. This is important because Search Engines are pretty much the only way (outside of word of mouth) people find out about this site... To the RBI Updates - Vince Coleman has taken a coaching job in the minors, Lipitz's profile picture has been changed (nice try Lips) and I added a great article on Julio Franco to the links page. Speaking of Lipitz, we've got a great video of him from 1992. It features a young Lipitz getting an interview on the local news channel. The best part is that he shares the segment with Rasheed Wallance and Donovan McNabb, both of whom were in high school at the time. McNabb, Rasheed and Lipitz - fucking scary... I added another batch of music reviews this week - The Buzzcocks, Pinhead Circus, Public Image Limited,The Sonics and Teengenerate. Some very good records in this batch (and one awful one), so check them out. Still haven't cleaned up the interface, content wins out this week... Discuss this update on the Dee-Nee Forums
